Opening the 2nd Quarter the Generals attempted to punch the ball in with 1st and Goal. The Pirates defense was unrelenting though and the Generals were held to a turn over on down only inches from a touchdown. The Generals defense though would prove to be just as stingy as the Pirates picking up a safety on 3rd down. On the pursuing drive the Generals again marched the ball down the field, but were again met with strong opposition from the Pirates' defense, forcing the Generals to settle for a field goal and a 7-5 Pirates lead. On the following drive the Pirates began marching the ball, but put the ball on the ground for the Generals to recover. The Generals looked to take the lead with Cameron Wakefield breaking a huge run down to the 4 yard line, but it was called back due to holding. The Pirates took advantage picking off the Generals setting up 1st and Goal. On 3rd down the Pirates would punch it in for a 14-5 lead in the Backyard. The Generals though would not go into halftime without a fight though. On the next drive Lee dumped the ball over the middle to running back Tony Bell. Bell weaved through traffic and found daylight taking it in from 52 yards out. The extra point would be blocked by the Pirates though leaving the Generals down 14-11 going into halftime.
If the game wasn't exciting enough the offenses would open up the game and turn it into a shootout during the 3rd Quarter, with both teams combining for a total of 46 points. The 3rd Quarter would be highlighted though by a stellar Tony Bell, who broke the biggest play of the night with a 95 yard touchdown run. After trading several touchdowns the Generals would finally hold the lead 38-33 at the end of the 3rd quarter.
Both teams would bench their varsity squads starting the 4th quarter though and the Pirates got the first score after a bad snap went over the head of the Generals' JV quarterback and was recovered by Fernandina Beach in the end zone. The extra point attempt would fail though. The Generals' JV squad was then able to get things together holding the JV Pirates. The Generals would then score a touchdown through the air and pair it with a 2-point conversion. Not to be outdone by the Generals' offense, the Pirates marched the ball down the field and into 1st and Goal range. The Generals defense held strong though keeping the Pirates out of the end zone four straight downs for a turnover on downs. The Generals though would then get stuffed in their own end zone giving the Pirates 2 points and an 8-8 JV showdown score.
The final score of the night of the combined Lee Varsity-JV and Fernandina Beach Varsity-JV kickoff classic would be the Generals 46, Pirates 41. The player of the game would easily go to Running Back Tony Bell who accumulated close to 400 all-purpose yards. Bell highlighted the night with a touchdown reception for over 50 yards and a 95 yard touchdown run.
